Becky Batcha is managing editor of the news and editorial team. She and the team’s writers shape the University’s storytelling in partnership with programs and centers across campus, and in collaboration with Office of Communications colleagues from the design, social media, multimedia, digital/analytics, media relations and campus communications teams. She joined the staff in 2021.
A career journalist with thousands of bylines under her belt on topics from education policy to World Series baseball, Becky comes to Princeton from the Philadelphia Inquirer, where she led arts and entertainment coverage for the city’s news source of record during the exhilarating digital transformation of newspaper journalism. She grew up in a rural coal mining town in Pennsylvania and studied journalism and political science as a first-generation college student at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and Maxwell School Citizenship & Public Affairs.
